Day 161 (Transfer Itaqui v2 East Side)
Too bad the package was destroyed, but whenever you send one next time, I have a few suggestions that are pretty light:
- beef jerky, peppered
- those rice crackers from the asian market (also the Nagaraya peanuts)
- sharpies
So I did get transferred from Itaqui! (now I'm working on the east side of the city). I told you that it was a remote possibility that I'd just move bedrooms, and that's exactly what happened. Elder Marcone will be staying in the other bedroom and I'll be getting a new companion, Elder Silva (there are at least 2 Elder Silvas in the Santa Maria mission).
The other two Elders who were here are moving out, and we're moving in, which means we'll be opening the area. In effect it's an area restart, whenever work has slowed to a near-stop or an area is "burned out" with the same missionaries for an extended period.
Until this next few weeks, the area is a complete mystery. The past couple of elders working there have already stopped working with most of the investigators they had there, so we'll be off running with a map and a handful of addresses.
Area 1: West of the red center line. Area 2: East, visited a few times on divisions and seems better easier to navigate (less things that exist, but aren't on the map)
We discovered a less-active member named Ildoir and his family while trying to contact an investigator. Left me with an Internacional jersey, so, in his words, I could show the United States the best football team in Brasil. So here it is! (also new bedroom)
A week's worth of shopping.
Cachorro Quente (hot dog). I'll have to get another picture of the way they usually come. Normally there'll be the hotdog itself, plus some sort of sauce (brasilian mayo + ketchup) mixed with cheese, corn, and peas. It all goes into some sort of hotdog sandwich press, so you get a sort of brick of bread with everything inside. Pretty nice. And in general it's about 2 dollars (5 or 6 heiais).
Até mais,
